  FAQ

How can I find out my child's grade?

You can check your child's grades on Skyward. Skyward is an online website. If you do not know how to do this, contact the school office for help.

What should my child wear for class?

Seventh grade is khaki pants/shorts and white polo. On Wednesdays, students may wear jeans with "no place for hate" or "Rachael's Challenge" teeshirts. Friday, students can wear jeans with college shirt or SCA shirt.

Can my child get extra credit?

Not usually. Extra credit is allowed ONLY if the child is completely caught up (including corrections) and is at least one full week before the end of the grading period. Extra credit work is generally more challenging work.

How can I get in touch with one of my child's teachers?

Email is a safe bet. You can also call the office and leave a message. Just give us about 24 hours to answer - our conference time is first thing in the morning and we have no off time after that until the end of the day when school is out.

Some of your teachers use a free app called "Remind" that also enables you to send/recieve text messages to/from your child's teacher. Please contact your child's teacher if you are interested in signing up for Remind.

How can I help my child's reading improve?

Make them read, read, read, read. Ask them about the book, theme, main idea, characters. Get them talking about their books. What did they like? Why did they like it? And have them support their answers from the text!

How can I help my child's writing improve?

Make them write, write, write, write. Encourage them to use description when they are telling you about their day or their books. When they are reading, read with them and have them discuss the author's purpose for using that phrase, or this language. Good readers make good writers, and vice-versa.

When is tutoring?

Reading and writing study sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays at 7:15 am - 7:45 am and 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm. Other days/times can be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Can my child take a cell phone to school?

The campus policy is this: all cell phones must be turned off as soon as they enter the building. As soon as students are dismissed from the cafeteria, cell phones should be locked up in the lockers and left there for the the day.

Cell phones collected will be taken to the office and the parent has to come to campus to collect the phone after paying $15.00 fee.

Can I have a conference with my child's teacher?
